Secretary or library desk. Left side has 4 shelves behind door with curved glass. On right side are 3 drawers with locks and fancy brass pulls. Above drawers is a fold-out writing surface. Behind fold-out door are wooden slots and a small drawer. Above desk is a mirror. On right side of mirror a carved shiffon supports a small shelf. Shelf on top of piece has carver back board. Supported by wooden legs with wheels. Desk is made in a late Victorian art nouveau style, characterised by its rounded front panel and organic, floral ornamentation on the desk front and shelf brackets.
Desks similar to this were produced by the Larkin company of Buffalo, New York as premiums.
