Black rectangular inkstone (Japanese: suzuri) used for making ink for painting and calligraphy. Inkstone has a sloped interior floor. Entire inkstone is black. Residual inkstains can be seen on the interior of the stone. No manufacturer's mark.
This inkstone belonged to Koshige Saito (nee Fujiwara), and was a part of her sumi-e set.
