Title Nurse-in-Training Uniform

Description Probationer's (or Nurse-in-Training) uniform (A) and detatchable collar (B). Short sleeved blue cotton uniform dress has a gathered skirt and five buttons on the front bodice. There is a single pocket on the right side of the skirt. White machine stitched seams. "D.A.J." (Dolphie Alice Jorgenson) inscribed on back of uniform collar. Detachable white cotton collar with flap and button hole in back. Somewhat tattered. Very faded inscription on collar - "Mariane(?) No. 1181".

This uniform was worn during the first three months of nurse training by Auburn resident Dolphie Tamburello (nee Jorgenson) at Virginia Mason Hospital. Dolphie became ill and never graduated. Uniform was purchased at the hospital.
